Tax & Financial Accountant
Location: Portland, OR
Pay: $65K - $75K year
About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Tax & Financial Accountant to join our finance team. This role is critical in managing complex tax compliance, supporting financial planning and analysis, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will play a key role in strategic tax planning, financial reporting, and audit readiness, while providing expert guidance on tax implications to support our business goals.
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
Run monthly close reports and reconcile with general ledger balances
Perform financial and analytical reviews across company cost centers
Prepare general ledger reconciliations and financial allocations
Post reclassifications, amortizations, and various journal entries
Manage Square deposits and create periodic revenue summaries
Generate and archive monthly financial reports
Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and resolve stale check issues
Prepare and process bank deposits as needed
Tax Compliance & Reporting
Prepare and record monthly sales tax entries and payments
File monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns (sales, property, business, CAT)
Research tax compliance issues and respond to inquiries
Register the company in new tax jurisdictions as required
Maintain and update tax rates and customer jurisdiction codes
Prepare income tax schedules and 1099 tax documentation
Bachelor’s degree (or in progress) in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3–5 years of relevant experience in a private accounting setting
Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax regulations
Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Excel
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
